Description

Description (Service) The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA) is a public agency responsible for carrying out a program of natural resources management within the Nottawasaga Valley watershed. The Nottawasaga Valley watershed encompasses lands in Simcoe, Dufferin and Grey counties.

NVCA works to protect people and property from damage associated with flooding and erosion. It also works to protect source water (our drinking water) from contamination.

NVCA owns and manages lands throughout the watershed, including local conservation areas: New Lowell, Petun, Fort Willow, Glencairn, Edenvale, Tottenham, Utopia, the Tiffin Centre, the Nottawasaga Bluffs and the Minesing, Osprey and Elba Wetlands. These lands provide ecological benefits and offer recreation and tourism opportunities.

NVCA programs include forestry management, best management practices for healthy waters, watershed monitoring, land acquisition and management, recreation, environmental education, natural heritage protection, engineering and technical services and planning review.
