Description

Description (Service) Pet Registrations are LIFETIME records, once initial registration is done, you are not required to renew registration
  • Dog and cat registrations are issued in accordance with City of Barrie By-law 2010-035, as amended
  • all dogs over the age of six months are required to be registered in the City of Barrie (cats are optional)
  • cat owners have the option to register a cat over the age of six months and ensure their cat is not at large or trespassing on the property of others

Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm, closed on statutory and civic holidays.

Eligibility All dogs 6 months and older must be registered, cats are optional.
Application At time of registration, confirmation:
  • that the cat or dog has been altered (spayed or neutered) is required
  • that the cat or dog has had its current rabies vaccine is required
  • of breed of dog is required. (Note: In some instances legislative requirements may require that the breed of dog be confirmed by provision of a veterinarian's statement)
Pet tags are available for purchase online at the City of Barrie website or visiting the Enforcement Services Office during regular business hours.
