Description

Description (Service) Auxiliary police officers support police services by volunteering their time and participating in community events
  • assist at Remembrance Day celebrations and the annual Santa Claus parade
  • assist at Police Week displays and other events promoting crime prevention
  • partner with sworn police officers on regular patrols
  • Auxiliary members must be available for a minimum of 12 hours each month, and must be able to attend regular in-service training sessions
  • initial training consists of classroom instruction, physical restraining methods, and firearms familiarization
  • although Auxiliary members are not issued firearms, they must be capable of handling them, in unusual or critical circumstances
Volunteer Description Volunteers are used for traffic, parades and other light duties, training provided
