Description

Description (Service)

Diversion program for youth aged 12-17 at time of offence

  • Youth can be referred by police (pre-charge) or by Crown Attorney (post-charge)
  • Youth will attend a meeting with Youth Workers and/or a Youth Justice Committee (YJC) to receive sanctions for their actions
  • YJC Committee is a group of trained community volunteers who have an interest in youth who will meet with youth and parent(s) to provide meaningful sanctions to the youth in order to complete the diversion program
  • Victims are invited to attend in order to also provide information and input
Volunteer Description Volunteers needed for the Youth Justice Committee, where volunteers meet with the youth, their parents/support person and provide meaningful sanctions to the youth. 
 
Volunteers must provide an up to date criminal record check and attend training.
