Description
Description (Service) The provincial booking site is live and technical issues have been resolved: Visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine for adults turning 60 yrs of age in 2021 or older. When booking an appointment, individuals will be asked for information from their green Ontario health card, birth date, postal code and email address and/or phone number. At the time of booking, eligible individuals will schedule their first and second vaccination appointments. Individuals who still have a red and white health card, or who require assistance with booking, can call the Provincial Vaccine Information Line number at 1-888-999-6488 8 am-8 pm, Mon-Sun.   
 
Outline of what is currently available: 
  • Adults age 55 or older in 2021 - select pharmacies are booking appointments for AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines. Go to: covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations and select your closest city 
  • Adults 60 yrs of age or older in 2021 and NEW: Adults 60 yrs of age or older in 2021 and NEW: Eligible special education workers who have been provided with proof of employment letter from their school board. The letter is needed when booking an appointment and will be required at the immunization clinic appointment, residents aged 50 or older (born in 1971 or earlier) and living in hot spot postal code L3Z can book an appointment through the Province's online booking, residents aged 50 or older (born in 1971 or earlier) and living in hot spot postal code L3Z can book an appointment through the Province's online booking system: Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling 1-833-943-3900 8 am-8 pm, Mon-Sun. 
  • Adults 60-64 years old will be contacted by their health care providers in Simcoe Muskoka. Details listed in the post above this one. (this is also happening via pharmacies in other health units in Ontario)  
  • The following groups can pre-register for an appointment NOW on the Health Unit website NEW: Highest-risk and high-risk health condition categories, Resident of a Congregate Living Setting, Transplant Recipients & Some Cancer Patients who have received Dose 1 can now book Dose 2, Indigenous adults and their household members, adult recipients of chronic home care, health care workers (moderate priority category has been added), essential caregivers of residents in LTC and retirement homes and Faith leaders. Click on the appropriate group listed on the website to access a link to pre-register. A valid health card and email address is needed to per-register. 
  • April to July - phase 2 and 3, depending on vaccine supply, older adults, beginning with those 75 years of age and decreasing in five- year increments will be eligible. It has not yet been announced whether these appointments will be booked through the province's booking system or the health unit booking system.
 
Transportation to Vaccine Clinics 
  • Seniors in Orillia who need a ride to get the COVID-19 vaccine, can call Abel Taxi at 705-325-0632 to book a free ride to Rotary Place. 
  • Residents with vaccinations appointments in Huntsville or Bracebridge can contact Hammond Transportation Ltd. at 705-645-2583 Mon-Fri 9 am-4 pm for free door to door transportation. The 'on demand' service operates on a first-come-first-serve basis. 
  • Red Cross will provide transportation to COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics within Simcoe County and Muskoka, excluding Orillia and Huntsville. Call 705-721-3313 Ext 5206 to book an appointment
