Description (Service)

Youth Ambassador Program

  • organizes youth exchanges with Barrie's sister cities in Japan, Germany, United Kingdom & France
  • each summer a delegation will travel to one of Barrie's Friendship/ Twin Cities 
  • the next summer this delegation will host a group of youths from the city they visited

Global Perspective Program

  • An integrated academic five credit program for students in Grade 11, with a strong focus on self-exploration and global issues
  • program takes place each year during the second semester at Innisdale Secondary School
  • Global Perspective credits consist of Grade 11 Music, World Religions, English, and Politics, as well as one grade 12 World Issues credit
  • program also consists of travel to countries such as Cuba and Germany as part of international exchanges

Eligibility Open to all students in Barrie and surrounding area
  • must have an interest in different cultures
  • must be willing to host a student the following summer
  • must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills
  • must welcome new ideas and challenges and be willing to adapt to a completely different culture and learn all it has to offer
Youth Ambassador Program: students in Grades 9 and 10

Global Perspective Program: students in Grade 11
Application

Approximately six weeks prior to the deadline, application forms and brochures are available on-line via the website or in school at the main office/guidance departments, or by contacting Mark Sachkiw for Youth Ambassadors and Jeff Toole for Global Perspectives

  • an interview will be required as part of the selection process
