Home visiting program provides free support, information and education for pregnant women and families with children from birth to school entry.
Services include:

• prenatal education and help for pregnant women to get ready for their new baby
• telephone call to all new mothers from a public health nurse after mother's discharge from hospital
• if needed, a follow-up home visit from a public health nurse to answer questions about breastfeeding, taking care of baby, being a parent, postpartum mood disorders, childhood growth and development and community programs
• ongoing home visiting from a public health nurse and family home visitor to families who could benefit from additional support

Clients may benefit from HBHC if clients:

• Are new to Canada
• Are caring for a child with developmental concerns
• Live in a rural, remote, or otherwise isolated area
• Are experiencing challenges such as homelessness, financial stress, relationship difficulties, or involvement with child protection
• Are experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns that affect an ability to parent
