BarrieOur valued and dedicated volunteer team is the strength of Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka. Citizens who join our locally focused committees participate in activities and events to promote public awareness and knowledge of the Crime Stoppers program, the Tip Line, and how we ensure anonymity. Committees meet once each month or as needed. Committee volunteers are encouraged to liaise with various leaders within their community to build relationships with all stakeholder groups.
Each committee is led by a Chair Person and has a representative who sits on the Board of Directors. Committees create and execute awareness and/or fund raising events that they feel reflect the personality and character of their local community.
Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka committees are currently located in Barrie, Southern Georgian Bay (Midland and Penetanguishene), South Simcoe (Innisfil and Bradford), Dufferin (Orangeville), Muskoka, Georgian Triangle (Wasaga Beach and Collingwood), Orillia and Muskoka (Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville) If you would like to join one of these we would welcome the opportunity to talk with you!
The Board of Directors is comprised of a cross-section of volunteers who govern the overall operations of Crime Stoppers. Reward payments are authorized by the Board of Directors. The Board creates and ensures adherence to Policy & Procedures as well as our By-Laws, and executes some fund raising events.
All ages and experience levels welcomed. Main activities:
- Walking, lots of walking in indoor 60'x120' (20x40m) arena or outdoor (30 x 70m) or wooded trails...up to 2kms/hour
- Grooming and getting horses ready, we will train on this
- Leading or walking with a horse with rider onboard, we will train for this
- Working with riders on the autism spectrum, Down Syndrome or with a physical disability
- Both early evening hours and daytime/afternoon hours available
- 2 hour commitment
Autism Ontario offers a variety of volunteer opportunities across seven regions in Ontario. Our volunteers play a crucial part in supporting individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Role: 50/50 Ticket Sales Volunteer (Ticket Administrator)
What you’ll do:

Arrive 1.5 hours before puck drop for a quick check-in and setup

Sell 50/50 tickets in the arena until the end of the 2nd period

The Barrie Good Food Box is a community buying program for fresh produce. Barrie Good Food box is a program of CMHA Simcoe County.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with "pack day" on the second Wednesday of the month between 9 am to 6 pm at the Barrie Free Methodist Church (290 Cundles Rd E).
Volunteers unload the food from the truck, pack the boxes, greet people and give boxes to participants when they arrive to pick up, and general cleanup duties.
We are also looking for volunteer drivers to deliver food to schools and recipients who could otherwise not participate.

- Provide regular visits to assigned older adult clients, offering companionship, conversation & engagement in meaningful activities

Volunteers would be responsible for stocking shelves, cleaning the store, re-organizing items, aseembling product, and assisting customers.

As a volunteer in this role, you will:
- Assist with client intakes.
- Oversee and ensure smooth operation of the reception area at the office, including acting as first point of contact with the public.
- Reply to general enquiries, information requests and voicemails, and direct incoming calls.
- Provide access to the building, handle and relay couriers/deliveries, electronic and physical filing, and receive and process donations.
- Support new personnel with onboarding and building orientations.
- Support Supervisors/Managers with the general operation of administrative functions and special projects as needed.
- Provide information and referrals on Canadian Red Cross services, programs, and volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer Drivers
Our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to provide an invaluable service by assisting staff and foster families with the transportation needs of children in the care of SMFC. Volunteer drivers transport children and their families to various appointments such as access visits, medical appointments and schools throughout Muskoka and the Simcoe County region at the request of the Agency. Punctuality and reliability are a necessity for this position. Our drivers are compensated a fair rate per kilometre.
Volunteer in our retail shop, deliver snacks to schools, singsong and party support at seniors centres and so much more.
Various volunteer opportunities, including ushering, bingo, set up and tear down of sets, data entry, assist with administrative duties and assisting with inventory of costumes and props. There are also opportunities to help with one time special events.
Volunteer duties vary depending on the role and will be discussed prior to an interview. Please call or email us first to inquire about which programs curently need volunteers, as some programs may be fully equipped with volunteers, and volunteer needs are constantly shifting.

Wiidookdaadiwin is a lookout site built to honour and acknowledge Indigenous and settler relations in Simcoe County. There are Indigenous plantings and story boards in both Ojibway and Engish, and a tremendous vistia lookout of Georgian Bay and the region.
We are looking for summer volunteers to assist with daily operations such as opening and closing the site. This will require the volunteer to have a car and ideally live locally. Volunteers will also be required to particiapte in special events such as the official grand opening in June, 2025. Further terms and dates for these roles are negotiable. We are looking for 3-5 volunteers for the summer from May to September, 2025.

Packing Orders: Receiving orders via our website, volunteers will pack up individual orders by their designated pick-up time. They must ensure that orders are packed up accurately and in a timely manner.
Driving: We need volunteers to drive to local partner stores to pick up donated food then drive it to our location in downtown Barrie (80 Bradford St Suite 601). The majority of the driving will be completed between the hours of 8:00am and 9:00am daily, with some occasional afternoon pick-ups as well.
Inventory: Using Shopify, volunteers and employees update the product inventory information. Quantities of items need to be maintained and product photos updated periodically.

As a Bingo Volunteer, you are responsible for sharing the mission and values of the Ontario SPCA with participants at the Gaming Centre.
Responsibilities:
Be a positive role model, assist Bingo participants with the navigation of the e-bingo gaming consoles, share the organization's mission and how it benefits from each Bingo event, maintain a professional appearance, attitude and communication when representing the organization.
To attend Board of Directors Meetings. Participate in board activities and decision making.
Share your love of reading and comfort with Zoom meetings, by facilitating a small online book club for people with development disabilities. This role promotes literacy, community interaction and building relationships.
As a Book Club Facilitator you will manage the weekly Zoom meetings (admitting members, sharing screens, assigning cohosts etc.) as well as assign Individual readers, plan sessions and read some of the chosen text to/with the group.
This group usually focusses on one book per season and works slowly through chapters, reading together and discussing.
This group meets virtually every Tuesday from 6-7 pm, therefore the Facilitator would need to commit about 1.5 hours each Tuesday and perhaps an additional 30 - 60 minutes weekly for planning.
Café volunteers assist with the operation of the Café by providing staffing and services. Responsibilities include:
- Serve customers of the Café
- Perform opening and closing procedures as required
- Record sales using a cash register, handle cash and maintain records
- Refill condiment containers and supplies as needed
- Conduct inventory and indicate need for replacement as needed
- Keep café area clean and clear of debris
- Tidy and restock books/DVD's/CD's as necessary
Volunteers will play an important role in helping maintain a welcoming, clean, and enjoyable environment for guests. Responsibilities include walking throughout the bingo hall to keep the space tidy by collecting garbage and used bingo cards, greeting and assisting players as needed, and helping deliver food and beverages to tables.
At the end of the evening, volunteers will also assist with light clean-up duties such as wiping down bingo screens and ensuring the space is left organized.
This role is customer-service focused and a great way to engage with the community—no money handling or number calling is required.

Bridget’s Bunnies is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families through the heartbreak of pregnancy and infant loss. We provide Comfort Kits, remembrance resources, and compassionate community care, ensuring no one walks this journey alone.
Bridget’s Bunnies is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to assist with special events throughout the year, including community events and Bridget’s Bunnies fundraising events and activities. This role involves representing Bridget’s Bunnies brands throughout the Simcoe/Muskoka region.
