Description (Service) COVID-19 Update
  • Outreach Program is not operating at this time, planned to start up again in Fall 2023, call or visit Recreation Programs - 55+ for updates
Regular Service
Program offers support to older adults in the Barrie community who for a variety of reasons are unable to take advantage of the 55+ centres
  • program exists to promote wellness in all areas of living: social, emotional and physical
  • offers fitness, lunch, opportunities to get to know new people and make new friendships, and opportunities to participate in activities
Volunteer Description Volunteers needed to assist with planning and implementation of program, also setting up, serving meals, transportation; needed one or two Tuesdays a month

Outreach Program: second and fourth Tue of each month, 11 am-2 pm

Eligibility
  • Age Requirements: 55 years and up
  • Seniors, living alone, or with family, who have limitations and/or a barrier preventing them from participating independently in regular activities at the centre
  • since the volunteers are not health care personnel and many are seniors themselves, senior participants must be able to look after their own personal needs and support their own weight without another person's assistance
