Description (Service)

The Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) resolves disputes between residential landlords and tenants through mediation or adjudication. The LTB also provides information about its practices and procedures and the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants under the Residential Tenancies Act

  • Important: The LTB has modernized its operations. Most LTB applications and documents can be submitted online through the Tribunals Ontario Portal  or by email
  • Users that have limited access to technology or the limited ability to submit applications electronically, can submit them in-person, at more than 85 Service Ontario locations, or submit to the LTB:
    • by mail to Landlord and Tenant Board (Toronto East Office), 2275 Midland Ave, Unit 2 Toronto, ON M1P 3E7
    • by courier to Landlord and Tenant Board (Toronto South Office) 15 Grosvenor St, Toronto, ON M7A 2G6
    • The LTB does not accept applications or documents in-person at its head office or at any of its regional offices

Information pamphlets, applications for landlords and tenants, forms and notices are available on the website and at the ServiceOntario Centre at 34 Simcoe St, applications and supporting documents can be filed at Simcoe St but there is no in-person service in Barrie for people wishing to speak to someone regarding the legislation

City of Barrie by-law 82-137 requires the maintenance of adequate and suitable heat for rented or leased dwellings/living accommodations within the City of Barrie, call the Building Services Department at 705-739-4212 for inquiries about this by-law
