Advisory committee to City Council on the historical and architectural importance of buildings and other heritage matters in Barrie, committee is appointed by City Council

Committee meets monthly to discuss heritage matters, add properties to the Municipal Heritage Register, purchase plaques, plan and participate in events, etc.,
monthly meetings are open to the public, for information and meeting details see the Heritage Barrie committee agenda on the City of Barrie legislative calendar available, barrie.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx
publishes Historic Neighbourhood Guide
- print copies are available at Service Barrie (City Hall), Allandale Recreation Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre, Peggy Hill Team Community Centre, Tourism Barrie, the downtown library branch and the Painswick library branch.

Maintains an inventory of historical markers and plaques
Hosts the annual Barrie Heritage Awards
