Description (Service)

The Water Operations Branch's primary objective is the production and delivery of potable water from two sources:

  1. A deep groundwater aquifer accessed through twelve (12) active groundwater wells, and;
  2. Surface water from Lake Simcoe that is drawn to the Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP) from an intake in Kempenfelt Bay.

The Branch also ensures that the infrastructure which directs water to your home is regularly maintained

Water Operations Branch Staff provide information about the water services delivered to residences and business in accordance with applicable bylaws. This includes:

  • Answering public inquiries about water chlorination, water hardness and regulations regarding drinking water testing and safety, swimming pool filling, water meters;
  • Providing information about water treatment, maintenance activities, and other Branch intiatives through the City's website, and;
  • Forwarding inquiries about water conservation, non-potable water, environmental response to hazardous spills in water and sewage treatment to the appropriate department
