Freedom to Read Week is an annual event held in February that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed them under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms

  • now organized by Library and Archives Canada, the Canadian Urban Library Council, the Ontario Library Association, and the Book and Periodical Council
  • Resources available to assist booksellers, librarians, students and educators to discuss, study and respond to the issue of censorship in their own communities and the rest of Canada, see website for more information about resources
