Description (Service) Crisis beds are located in Barrie
  • 6 crisis beds available to individuals in the community who are experiencing a mental health, psychosocial or addiction related crisis
  • local and surrounding Police Services can access a crisis bed 24hrs
  • non-medical service provided
  • crisis staff work with admitted clients, providing flexible care and collaborative crisis planning, respite, medication education and supervision, relapse and Crisis prevention and safety planning, coping strategies, housing support, referrals to any ongoing community services as required, and assistance with other goals and needs
  • clients are expected to be involved in goal-setting and discharge planning with staff support
  • all other Crisis Services (Telephone, Mobiles, COAST) are available through the program
  • bed requests are triaged daily, and admissions are short-term, goal-oriented and solution-focused

  • Age Requirements: 16 yrs and up
  • Youth, Adults who are experiencing a mental health, addiction or psychosocial related crisis and are in need of non-medical crisis intervention
  • individuals must be medically stable

  • Referral - self, medical, agencies, police
  • following a phone assessment by the worker, the mobile service may be initiated for individuals living in the Barrie area that need someone to meet in the community to provide more intensive level of support
  • short-term crisis beds are available if required following a mobile assessment of need and prioritized due to limited access
