Description

Description (Service)

Provides community programming to youth (ages 12-17) to help them become accountable for their actions by addressing the risk factors that have led to their involvement in the justice system

  • provides community programming consistent with the principles of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)
  • model facilitates the effective use of sentencing alternatives provided by the legislation; specifically, probation disposition, diversion, and deferred custody through supervision
  • Goal of programming is to develop positive attitudes, behaviours and social skills, improve school performance, and create positive linkages to the community through recreation and employment skills
  • programming covers a wide range of topics, including: anger and how to regulate emotions, anxiety, depression, bullying, navigating relationships, self-esteem, mindfulness, school supports, substance use, life skills & independent living, coping and communication skills, and more
