Description (Service)

Emergency, essential and preventive dental care to eligible children, adults and seniors based on services covered under publicly funded dental programs

  • Services are offered at clinics in Barrie and Gravenhurst
  • provides oral health education, screening programs and preventative services for children in school
  • Publicly funded Dental Care Programs include:

Healthy Smiles Ontario

  • no cost dental program for children 17 and under who do not have access to any dental coverage and who meet the program's eligibility requirements
  • Covers regular visits to a licensed dental care provider, such as a dentist or dental hygienist
  • Covers a full range of dental services including check-ups, cleaning, fillings, X-rays, sealing, urgent/emergency dental services, and more
  • Does not cover cosmetic dentistry (such as teeth whitening), or orthodontics (such as braces)

Ontario Works Emergency Dental Care

  • emergency dental care, for eligible adults on Ontario Works (OW)

Ontario Disability Support Program

  • basic dental care for eligible adults on Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

Non-Insured Health Benefits for First Nations and Inuit (NIHB)

  • basic dental care for adults on NIHB

Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program

  • no cost dental care for adults 65 yrs and older who do not have access to any dental coverage and who meet the program's eligibility requirements
  • covers X-rays, preventive care (cleanings, fluoride), restorations, extractions, root canals, dentures (through authorized denturists with a small co-pay)
