Important: Looking directly at the Sun, without appropriate protection, can lead to serious problems such as partial or complete loss of eyesight.

Total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024

  • path of totality will pass through some cities and towns in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland
  • in Ontario the eclipse will begin just after 2 pm and last about 2 1/2 hours with the total eclipse occuring around 3:15 pm depending upon location
  • Vist eclipse.org and enter your location to find out the specific times the eclipse and it's path will occur in your area
  • people outside the path of totality will be able to observe a partial solar eclipse, during which the Sun is not hidden in totality
  • ISO Certified Solar glasses are required to view the Eclipse directly
    • Local libraries, municipalities or other local organizations may have glasses available prior to the eclipse
    • See this website for information on suppliers of safe solar viewers and filters
