| Description (Service) | A group of diverse stakeholders-local businesses, individuals, service providers, and the public and non-profit sectors-to implement effective, lasting solutions that empower the unhoused and strengthen our community. Phase 1 will be the launch of the Barrie Campus of Care. The project includes renovating the former paramedic building on Tiffin Street to include a kitchen and dining area, warming space, and urgent-care rooms to connect people with supports and services. Next door, the County will provide 40 temporary bridge-housing units. The two sites will be integrated to bridge crisis and long-term care. A more permanent Campus of Care is planned on city-owned land for 2028. This project is a joint effort between Barrie Cares and several partners, including the City of Barrie, County of Simcoe, RVH, CMHA Simcoe County, Georgian College, Barrie Police, and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. |
