As a Growling Beaver event day volunteer, you will help raise awareness about Parkinson's in your community while having fun doing it! Event day volunteers provide support in a variety of ways. By helping with pre-event set up and registration on Friday, cheering on riders as they complete the route, supporting participant registration, helping with set up, and everything in between, volunteers are an important component of a successful event.

Age Requirement
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to volunteer without a parent or guardian for this event. If an adult would like to register a youth aged 11 or younger to volunteer with them, please connect with Volunteer Engagement at volunteer@parkinson.ca for assistance.
Offers a full range of volunteer opportunities including supporting and leading program activities for Members, Gilda's Greeters, Clubhouse-based volunteers for activities, general clubhouse support, Program support, helping with fundraising, special events, and outreach.
Youth volunteers are needed and opportunities are available during July and August for Summer camp support. Contact the volunteer Manager for more info.

Bridget's Run is a 1km or 5km fun run, walk, or hop in recognition of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month and in support of Bridget's Bunnies Pregnancy and Infant Loss Foundation and individuals and families who have experienced loss.

Bridget's Run is looking for volunteers to help make this a fun and successful event! We are recruiting for the following volunteer positions:
-Run Route Cheer volunteer

-Merch and Raffle table volunteers
Volunteers will arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 am depending on the assigned volunteer position. The event ends at 11:00 am.
Training will be provided.
Parking will be reimbursed.

Event Day Logistics This role will focus on event day logistics and ensuring that we provide participants with a premier event experience.
Duties include:
- Venue selection
- Route, rest stops, and rider chip tracking system
- Jersey design
- Volunteers
- Start line experience
- Finish line experience
- Securing auction and gift bag items (if applicable)
Across the country, the Gutsy Walk is made possible due to the time and talents shared by thousands of volunteers in their communities. With a collective goal to deliver our mission of finding a cure for Crohn's and colitis, we are greatly appreciative and thankful for our volunteers who have continuously led the Gutsy Walk to success each year.
As a Gutsy Walk Planning Committee Member, you’ll be working closely with a team of other volunteers to plan and promote your local Gutsy Walk. Your efforts in connecting and engaging your community—whatever your volunteer role with Gutsy Walk—will make a big impact in raising awareness about IBD and finding cures.
In particular, we’re looking for volunteers to support their local Gutsy Walk in the following ways:
- Community Outreach –inspire people to sign up and participate in the local Gutsy Walk
- Media Relations –connect with local media outlets to promote the Gutsy Walk
- Social Media –raise awareness about IBD and the Gutsy Walk through social media
- Fundraising –organize exciting fundraisers in your community
- Corporate Sponsorship –engage with local businesses to promote donations of sponsorship and gifts in kind
- Stewardship –build relationships with Gutsy Walk participants and encourage engagement
Welcomes donors to hospitality area of clinic
- offer refreshments
- give information and updates to donors
- answer questions, thank donors and give milestone donor recognition items
- observe donors and watch for adverse reactions
- keep hospitality area in good order

SuperWalk Volunteer Event Coordinator

SuperWalk Coordinators play a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds for people living with Parkinson's. They champion and lead the coordination of SuperWalk in communities, from start to finish, with support from Parkinson Canada. They support the organizing committee and ensure a positive experience for event participants. You will solicit sponsors in conjunction with the Sponsorship Coordinator and ensure the funds collected the day of the event are properly recorded and deposited. You will ensure all activities and actions are in alignment with the Parkinson Canada SuperWalk program and Parkinson Canada Policies.
Your Contribution
As a SuperWalk Coordinator, your people-skills, enthusiasm, and talent for organizing make you an excellent community facilitator. You enjoy guiding and mentoring other volunteers and helping them excel at their tasks. As someone who loves event logistics, you excel at key tasks, including:
- Selecting and securing site for SuperWalk
- Preparing a budget for the local event
- Sourcing local sponsorships
- Recruiting and providing leadership for the organizing committee
- Managing volunteers alongside the Volunteer Coordinator
- Organizing and Chairing Committee Meetings
- Attending monthly (April-October) conference calls with Parkinson Canada event staff
- Attending and overseeing all aspects of the walk including post walk wrap up
